TENAFLY HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
TODAY AT 10:00 a.m. - NOON

The TENAFLY HIGH SCHOOL Chamber Music Club's Fall Potpourri Concert,
Music for Cambodia, will be held today in the TENAFLY HIGH SCHOOL
LIBRARY starting at 10:00 a.m. The purpose of this concert is to raise
awareness for the club's yearlong project of raising money to help
Cambodian children get an education. These children, our age and
younger, must work as forced laborers or prostitutes to support
themselves. Find out what the Chamber Music Club is doing to help, and
enjoy your classmates' performances today in the library.

Hello Lila,

Thanks again for your interest in doing a report about us.  I have not
given you a date yet because the schedule has been a little difficult
here.  I am also the resident video engineer (by necessity)  and we have
been in the midst of integrating / upgrading new and donated equipment
and buttoning down things of a more technical nature.   I do hope your
interest remains, and I will let you know when we are ready.  I will

 - Lila, here is a brief description of our facility with progress
updates / events:

 

Tenafly High School Library Media Center Description:

 

A wonderfully large library with 30 foot ceilings and paintings of
Abraham Lincoln, displayed on the paneled east and west walls, provides
students with an ideal place for exploration of subjects either within
the curriculum or of personal interest.  Carefully chosen on-line
databases augment the print collection, and are available to students
both in school and at home.  Tenafly High School is the first and only
high school to locate a professional television studio in the center of
the library, surrounded by about 20,000 books.  It is used for
announcements and special events.  These programs are broadcast to the
school and community and streamed over the Internet.  The studio
situated in front of windows utilizes a bright and beautiful courtyard
as a backdrop.  In the studio, guest speakers either in person, or
remotely, through video conference technology, interact with students
and faculty.  Integration of various media under one roof allows the
library to be a perfect forum for authors and others to meet and inspire
the younger generation and makes this facility truly unique in a high
school.  Programs re-broadcast to our community and streamed over the
Internet allow parents and others to share students' unique experiences.
This school and community "bridge" is part of Tenafly's unique learning
community.  An academic theater, media production lab, and a
presentation and instructional teleconferencing theater provide
additional opportunities for complementing instruction with media.

 

SOME TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS & EVENTS THIS MONTH:

 

-          Dual circuit electric line and audio lines run from the
control room through the ceiling and down the cables holding up the
lighting grid above the studio

-          Avid Unity centralized media system scheduled for install
this week

-          Another top high school returns this week with a videographer
so they can better show to their community what we are doing with
television

-          Multi-core cable for the new IKEGAMI cameras has been run
from the control room to the studio and new cameras will be integrated
into our system this week

-          Perfectly balanced both Vinten Fulmar camera pedestals in
studio (donated by ABC) with new Ikegami cameras

-          Taping / broadcast of administration broadcast

-          Taping / broadcast of various sports events

-          Replace all video distribution amplifiers with newer models
(donated by NBC)

-          Integrating Dubner graphics package donated by Montclair
State University

-          Compete integration of the sound board (donated by ABC) from

Yes, we would like that very much.  We might be in action with the bus
this Sunday at the Ice House in Hackensack broadcasting hockey live.  I
still need to clear this with the opposing team and the Ice House
