Hello all. I have a 3rd grade teacher who would like to use either Hoot or Flush as a read aloud for the environmental themes. I suggested to her that I read them in the library, and create activities to go along with the book, a la the Fribble Mouse Library Mystery series of books that introduce different library resources as the story unfolds. I read both of the books several years ago, so I'm having a difficult time remembering if there's anything terribly inappropriate for 3rd graders, or even if the story would hold their interest. A cursory glance around reviews etc. looks like it might not be a good choice after all. Any words of wisdom? Has anyone successfully used either Hoot or Flush as a read aloud to 3rd grade?
