I'm sorry that you did not have a good response from Scholastic. Do you suppose it depends on who your rep is? I had Scholastic Book Fairs for over fifteen years, and my phone rep (who has remained the same all that time and whom I have never met) always was willing to customize my fair for me. I’d request more copies up front of certain titles, ask for some of the “junk” not to be sent, and other things. Granted, I was a 7-8 library, but I felt that many of the titles would have appealed to high school students, and I probably could have had more of them if I’d asked. For instance, last February, all of the Twilight books up to that time (three) were included. Call your rep and tell him/her you are dissatisfied with the answer you’ve received in the past and that you’d like to have a Scholastic Book Fair but that you feel they aren’t trying to cooperate with you. Scholastic wants to make money. I think that if you talk to the right people, you’ll get some action. If you’d like, write to me directly and I’ll give you the name and number of the rep I used. It’s a different territory, probably, but she’s been with Scholastic for years, so she might have a suggestion of someone you could call to get the answers you want. Most people say that Barnes & Noble is great to use, but we do not have one anywhere close to us. Someone also said to contact my Scholastic representative and request high school titles. I have done that, but I felt like I was being ignored. Other people are working with Books Are Fun, but they say there isn't a lot of selection. So, I'll keep looking. I thank all of you for your responses. Kimberly A.
