I am a new middle school media specialist and I need help selecting books
for a school wide book club. I'm having a hard time because there's so much
to choose from, but I figured posting to LM_Netters would help highlight
some great options.

I need books that are high interest, with an emphasis on mental
health/disabilities (emotional or behavioral) and/or just issues with
growing up. In the past we have chosen books like "The Uglies," "So B. It,"
"Al Capone Does My Underwear," and "Stargirl."

The first bookclub will be held in one month and will be for high potential
eigth graders, so books appropraite for that age range would be most
appreciated right now, but all suggestions are fantastic. I need to pick
two books for each book club so that kids can choose between two and then we
split the kids into two groups.

Thanks for your help with this! I will post a hit as soon as I get some
suggestions,
