Hi all,

Wow, I am incredibly impressed by the responsiveness of this listserve!
thank you all so very much for your quick replies! I also received a
terrific powerpoint for this, a link <
http://rhsweb.org/library/can_it_be_for_me.htm>, and a word document all of
which I'm attaching. You guys are the best.

Some of the versions are slightly different but it's basically the same
idea. Again, thank you all so much for your help!

Here is the acronym:

C over   (Does it tell about the Characters, setting?)
A uthor     (Do you recognize the name, read other books by that
author?)
N umber of pages   (A few or a lot?)

I llustrations  (Are there any?  Do you like the style?)
T itle   (Does it pull me in?)

B lurb         (On the back or inside)  Am I interested?
E ntirety       Size, shape, hard/paperback, size of print?

F irsts        Read the first sentence, first paragraph, chapter
O pinions      (on the back or inside)  an Award winner?
R everse title page   Copyright? What kind of a book is it?

M y Friends    What did they think of it?
E nding ( Some people read the end)  or   Excerpts   Read a paragraph in
the middle, how is the Author's style?
