To all Reading Counts Users: Let us use our collective buying power to try to make a difference. I propose that we gather our complaints to send to their corporate office as a group of dissatisfied customers. I am collecting e-mails (until Friday, Sept. 12) here, and another librarian is collecting them on our Texas library listserv, and we plan to forward these to their New York office. Here are the specifics: * E-mail me through the listserv * Give your name, district, campus, contact information, and number of years using RC * Give a brief description of why you feel the new pricing/timeline isn't appropriate * Please give specific supporting details when possible such as $ amount paid to Scholastic over the years, the inappropriateness of having all quizzes available to all grade levels, lack of funding for conversion, lack of funding for yearly subscription, possibility of dropping the program all together, etc. While, this type of conversion may be inevitable, I think we need to express to Scholastic how this sudden shift has affected their users. They seem to think that many of us will welcome these changes, and they need to know that what a serious problem is created by the lack of time they have given us for planning for change. Perhaps, if nothing else, we could get them to make some changes in the way that they implement the shift. I would like to see them give us some type of discount based on the total number of quizzes that we own rather than the ones that were purchased in the last year. Hopefully, together we can make a difference Ginny Raska Librarian Sweeny Junior High Sweeny, Texas 979 491-8240 graska@mailDOTsweenyDOTisdDOTesc4DOTnet -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
