These were great, now, has anyone created a Dewey lesson with SMART? I don't like to reinvent, especially since I just hung my board last Friday. I am a novice I have to admit! Any help would be really appreciated. Colette D. Eason, Librarian Marsalis ES 5640 S. Marsalis Ave. Dallas, TX 75241 Box 317, TEA #183 Dallas ISD ceason@dallasisd.org 972-749-3508 FAX 972-749-3501 At the moment that we persuade a child, any child, to cross that threshold, that magic threshold into a library, we change their lives forever, for the better. ~~Barack Obama You see, I don't believe libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians. ~~Monty Python >>> "Dr. Michael Bell" <drmichaelbell@VIRTUALLRC.COM> 9/9/2008 8:10 PM >>> Dear Lori, I found a lot of Power Point presentations about the Dewey Decimal System, mostly created by educators. There were 1,200 hits, so I wasn't able to look at many. At least two looked good : http://t4.jordan.k12.ut.us/grade_level/library/lesson_resources/understand_dewey.ppt , "Understanding Dewey!" and http://jc-schools.net/tutorials/PPT/DeweyDecimal.ppt > , " Dewey Decimal System" To search these I went to Google and entered : inurl:ppt "dewey decimal". As you probably know, "inurl:ppt " is one of the Google Query modifiers (Advanced Google Search Operators). There are a lot of these and they really make Google searching more powerful and more precise. A good summary of them can be found at : http://www.geocities.com/ian_springer/google_syntax.html .
