No, I'm not actually looking for a kettle of brains, though that would be helpful at times, I'm sure! Our fourth grade is going to be performing a play called "Witches, Britches, Rings 'n' Things." It is made up of four folk/fairy tales. Three of which I have easily identified -- The Troll and the Goats, Cap O' Rushes, and The Three Sillies. The fourth one seems to be a folk tale called "Kettle of Brains," where a fool has to solve several riddles to receive a kettle of brains from the witch. He finds a very smart girl, who helps him solve the riddles, and the witch tells him that she is his "kettle of brains." Ringing any bells? If anyone can help me find some version of this story, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
