Just as an aside - this phrase caught my eye ... "large educational publishers charge four dollars or more per softcover book" Here in Australia, a paperback (whether it be a picture book or novel) would start at $A12+. That's about $US10 with today's exchange rate, two weeks ago it would have been virtually the same. Yesterday I bought Elmer (soft cover) by David McKee for $A21.95, but even if I had bought an Australian author it wouldn't have been much less. Fiction hard backs are about $A25+ ($US 20) and non fiction hbk about $A35 There are a lot of complex factors in the price structure but, in the interests of putting a range of books in my kids hands when I was in the library, I had no qualms about buying from Amazon. Landed here for half the price!
