Hi, Everyone, I'm looking for book suggestions for grades 7-12 with African American characters, but not urban lit. and not books about slavery. My school's collection has books like Tyrell and Homeboyz, but I've had a request for books about African American characters without issues like drug use, child abuse, and other challenging issues that are prevalent in lots of young adult literature. The only book that came to mind immediately was Jason and Kyra, but I haven't read that and don't know if it fits the patron's request. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance-- ------------------------------------- Kelly Stern Teacher Librarian Cedar Falls High School Cedar Falls, Iowa sternk@cedar-falls.k12.ia.us -- This message was scanned by ESVA and is believed to be clean. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
