I decided that I'd pass this along: Let me know if you have anymore ideas!

On Thursday October 2nd our school is participating in the annual Read for the
Record! Sponsored by Jumpstart this is a day long event which strives to break the
world record. This year the book that was chosen to be read is Corduroy by Don
Freeman. Each classroom will be given their own copy of the book. Here are the
events planned for the day:

1.) During the day each classroom that signs up will have either a Board member
or member of the General Leadership team come in and read to their classroom.
Please sign up for a ½ hour time slot in the library media center (more then one
class can sign up for the same time).

2.) The movie Corduroy will be played throughout the day on Summit's television
station. Times will be announced.

3.) Students are invited to bring in their favorite teddy bear to school with
them.

4.) A mini packet with craft ideas, songs, etc. will be given to each
participating class.

5.) Each student that participates will receive a certificate.

If you have any suggestions, comments etc. let me know!! Visit
http://www.readfortherecord.org for more information!! I think this is going to be
a super fun event!

Subject: 5th grade biome NA resources

I have a teacher in 5th grade who wants to teach the biome unit using North
American biomes only. He wants details about the states and Canada that the biome
books don't include because they are full of general facts about the biome.
I have a large collection of general biome books.
Does anyone know of a resource to use for this teacher other than an ATLAS?
The state books that I have are not helpful either.
Thanks,
