Hi Colleagues, My alter-ego, Mrs. Skorupski, is writing a column for LibrarySparks about kids reading in the library. So often, we are focused on teaching the multiple literacy skills outlined in Standards for the Twenty-First Century Learner (collaboratively or in isolation) or we are helping kids to locate the perfect book and getting those books checked out to them. Sometimes, though, isn't it great to have kids READING in the library? Here's my question? Do you have any special times or days or celebrations or tricks that get kids sitting or lounging in the library to actually read for a nice chunk of time? If so, I'd love to hear from you. And if you do respond, let me know if I can quote you in my article!
