[LM_NET] TAR: Authors who are often overlooked?

We all know authors students love and ask for... and those perennial  
favorites we always recommend.  I am wondering if you can name one or  
two authors you think are often overlooked.  This would be an author  
whose books you personally love and would still recommend to  
students, but they may be older, or out of fashion, or perhaps even  
out of print.  It could be an author who wrote one famous book and  
the rest (still good) have faded into obscurity.  This could be for  
any level, but I am particularly interested in middle grade chapter  
books.  Can you add to my list?  I will post a h-i-t.
