[LM_NET] Inventory - Is it really needed every year?

My colleague and I are trying to plan the last couple months of school.  It's a bit 
of a challenge to complete it at the end of the year with one of us leaving on 
furlough every June or July.  It got us started talking.  Is inventory really 
necessary at the end of every year? We've just done it because that's when it's 
done and that's what we've always done.  What do you think?
