The College is seeking applicants for this exciting position: Primary Teacher-Librarian 2010 Lake Joondalup Baptist College is a flourishing K-12 coeducational College in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia which opened in 1990. In 2009 the College has an enrolment of more than 1200 student from Kindergarten to Year 12, 870 being secondary students. All staff appointed to the College are committed practicing Christians. Further information about the College is available on LJBC website, <www.ljbc.wa.edu.au<http://www.ljbc.wa.edu.au>> Lake Joondalup Baptist College is seeking an exceptional professional, preferably qualified and experienced, to fill the role of a Primary Teacher-Librarian. While a qualified Teacher Librarian is sought, new teaching graduates or current primary teachers who would like to pursue a career in Teacher-Librarianship and would be prepared to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Information Services at ECU, or equivalent, are also encouraged to apply. The College preference is to appoint a full time person, however, consideration may be given to a job share arrangement. The Primary Teacher Librarian will be responsible to the Head of Library and the Head of Junior Primary. The role of the Primary Teacher-Librarian is as a Library manager, a partner in the collaborative planning of learning and teaching; a resource support person; and a teacher with specialist skills in the area of librarianship. This role is integral in promoting lifelong literacy and enriching each child's educational experience. The appointee must be able to assume responsibility for the day to day management of all aspects of the Primary School Library. The Primary School Library, in association with the Secondary School Library, forms an integral part of the Information Services provided to the College community. The College is in the process of building a $2M Library for the Primary School, due to open Term 2, 2010. The Primary Teacher Librarian will be involved in setting up the new Library and will be responsible for making the new Library a dynamic part of the Primary School. The successful applicant will be expected to be an active, practising Christian and have the desire and ability to build and nurture school/family partnerships and support the community of LJBC. This appointee will be committed to actively supporting the Christian mission of the Lake Joondalup Baptist College.
