We have had one going for several years. We meet once a month during one lunch
shift. They bring their lunch and we meet and eat in our workroom area. (If
interested students have the other lunch shift, I get permission from their
teachers for them to miss class that day.) We average about 10-15 students on a
regular basis.
We run the gamut on what to read. Some months it's a
'share-what-you-are-reading' thing, others we read a certain genre, at times I get
multiple copies from the public library and we pass them around. Last year I was
fortunate to get a small grant from Donors Choose that purchased 12 copies of 3
different titles so that they got to keep the books.
I toy with the idea of a boys group and a girls group, but that never seems
to work out. We also have tried before school and after school but that also
presented problems. The lunch time seems to be the best.
     Good luck,

I did my first high school book club this summer. Did it very general and
simple but the kids want to continue when school starts. I would also love
to hear any ideas that might be out there.
