Thank you for taking the time to respond to this question. Here are responses I received: *Document Camera *Electronic Movie Screen (goes up and down electronically) *Audiobooks and/or a SmartBoard *split that money between books and equipment. I could have that money spent in 2 days because I need 3 new TVs (replacing old, and yes we still use them), and we need listening centers, CD players and I could use another laptop for circulation. I, also, have been reading books and reviews all summer. I always have working book request lists. I'm always working and planning to update my non-fiction collection. *Smart Board and data projector if you don't have one, or an EVO would even be better. Still need the data projector. Document camera and a digital camera and a digital video camera. *Anything I could get my hands on in Spanish and the best of the best in English. *I would go through my 'well-loved' books like Clifford and Dr. Seuss and see what needs to be replaced. Then I would see if the teachers are planning on doing any units that may need beefing up in our collection. Then, since I read Booklist and make up wish lists of all the books I wish I could order, *Cozy, comfortable, cute furniture for kids to sit in while reading. *digital camera for every teacher, with a 2GB memory card, rechargeable batteries and a charger, document cameras (1 per grade), flip video cameras, ipod nano, new headphones for the lab to replace broken ones. For the books I weeded my collection of anything old or outdated or under-represented and then ordered up to date books. * buying new titles and replacing older ones that are constantly read. *Walls for my open teaching space * document camera, an LCD projector; a cart of laptop computers, print encylopedias on various levels, a TV, a DVD/VCR combo. * laptop that needs replacing so that would be first priority. Second would be a new high quality digital video camera and possibly a still camera as well. My district doesn't provide any support for AV so that's the direction I always go with "found" money :) (The last bit of money like this bought a document camera and LCD projector). Then I think I'd look at my latest collection analysis from Mackin or Follett and use any remaining money to boost the area indicated as most in need. * Flip videos for the kids to make their own book trailers, etc. *a document camera (i love my ELMO) definetly get one. Also, I love having a flip video and will write a grant to obtain more so students can buddy up and use them for field trips, investigations, etc. Also, I won a grant this past year for a 20 ipod shuffles and we have used them extensively. Also, we lobe two subscriptions: Tumblebooks and Bookflix. Of course you couls use it for a smartboard- it would take all of your $$ if you needed the laptop and projector. *shelves and a high tech tv studio! *great if the students got to make suggestions too *More books, audiobooks, Playaways and portable CD players. *Books, books, books!!!!  Jane Dodson Elementary Media Specialist North Park/Emerson Columbus, NE 402-563-7070/402-563-7030 jane.dodson@cps-ne.org -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
