Hi, I got a request today from teachers at my former school. Without having access to their catalog, I'm having trouble coming up with some suggestions. An 8th grade geography teacher and the English teachers would like the students to read novels which take place in foreign countries/cultures. I'm going to also look for novels in which the characters live in America now, but are from other countries/cultures, just to give more options if they need them. Off the top of my head I thought "Before We Were Free" might fit the bill. Can anyone come up with other suggestions? These students are in a magnet program. They typically read materials for grades 8-12.
