I am working on an activity about advertising and I am trying to find out if the
'jingle' on an old
soap powder advertisement is actually a popular song of the 1940s because it sounds
so familiar but
I was not born then so it isn't a distant childhood memory. These are the lyrics
Nice day for a wedding
The sky's a wonderful blue
Nice day to be married
Especially to a beautiful girl like you.

Heaven's around the corner
The month of course is June
Such a nice day, old shoes and rice day
And we are on our honeymoon

It then goes on about how they got together because of a soap powder.

I have done a search for the lyrics to no avail, so maybe it is the tune that is
familiar. You can
listen to the whole thing here
http://australianscreen.com.au/titles/persil-washing-powder/clip1/ if
that helps. I would like the students (Yr 5/6) to look at how popular tunes/songs
are used or
converted for use in advertising so an answer would be so useful.
Thank you
Barbara
