Our Pre-K teacher just told me this morning that tomorrow she will be getting a new student who is deaf. It is our understanding that this child has cochlear implants, but refuses to wear / use them. This is a new class within our building this year and, so far, the teacher has been pretty much re-inventing the wheel. Now this. Does anyone have a suggestion for her regarding activities that all students might relate to that her deaf student could also benefit from? Any suggestions for a professional text that might be of help to this teacher? The PreK class is pretty much self-contained, so our other area teachers will not encounter this new little one. However, I would love ideas that might work in the library, as I see these kids weekly. Any suggestions? My colleague is at her wit's end and I'd love to offer her some support for her new student. If you have any brainstorms, please reply to me off the list. In advance, thank you! Patrice Huckaby, media specialist South Central Elementary School 6595 E.
