Hi Teresa, The best explanation/rationale I've ever seen regarding this question is that at the end of the day, publishers and authors want to sell books, and if putting technically unauthorized images of books up on webpages generates more interest and, therefore, more sales, then they're not going to bring anybody to court for having those book covers displayed. So really, it's a win-win situation, even if maybe technically under the law they don't have permission. That's the way I look at it! I'll be curious to see what others say, however.
