[LM_NET] What is the name of this book?

Here is a puzzle... I am looking for the title and or author of a book. This
is the description that was given to me but I have not been able to come up
with the book.

   - Black and white illustrations
   - Children's picture book
   - Characters are a young boy and an old lady (who many think is a witch)
   - Young boy becomes friends with the old lady
   - One day there is no smoke coming from her chimney and he goes to check
   on her. Turns out she is was sick and he helps her.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?
