[LM_NET] TAR: Book title needed

Dear List,
One of my sixth grade students is looking for a book.  All she can tell me is that 
the main character, a girl, is talking music lessons over the summer, violin she 
thinks.  The girl is left a fax from her grandfather admonishing her not to say 
anything to the police.  And that's all she had for me.  Does anyone recognize this 
book???
I know it's not much to go on, but that's all she knows.  Thanks to your collective 
genius!
