Okay this was fun! Now I am leaning toward the iTouch... let's see what
Santa says... he happens to be a very good and frugal researcher as well
:-)

Thanks everyone!

Original request:
>Lucky me... Santa is asking which one I want. What would you say?

Responses:
I vote Nook because you can download ebooks from your library for free.
_____

I do not have one but this am on TV a tech guy suggested the Kindle for a
lot of reasons; wireless ability, reading screen , size etc. Best reader
for
the money.
_____
Kindle hands-down. What it really comes down to (bells and whistles will
always be bells and whistles) is inventory. Amazon has the most available
for the cheapest prices. I researched the nook and the Kindle extensively
before purchasing Kindle, and I have not been disappointed with my choice.
The nook will just make the 3rd generation Kindle that much better when it
does come out, IMO. In the mean, I am really enjoying my Kindle.
_____
LOL! This must be the year for librarians with the last name of "Thomas"
to get e-Readers . . . my Santa is shopping around for mine, too. I'm
kind of leaning toward the COOL-ER -- have you looked at that one? I'd
really be interested in hearing the responses you get.
_____
According to B&N Nook is backordered until mid-Jan, so if you want it
under the tree I would go with one of the other choices!
_____
Kindle.
_____

I have the larger size Kindle. I liked it at first but when I found out
I could download books from B&N with their B&N Reader onto my iPod
Touch, I really like that better. It is smaller to carry around and it
has a backlit screen unlike my Kindle. You need to attach a light to
the Kindle if you want to read at night. I like the fact that I can
fall asleep reading in bed without having to turn off a light. I was
also able to get the Kindle Reader to download on my iPod so I can still
have access to the books I downloaded from Amazon. I really don't know
anything about the Sony or Nook.
_____
That's a tough one...I'd say it's between the Kindle and the Nook. I'm
leaning toward the Nook as being the best. I've researched both of them
quite a bit. (I'm hoping to purchase a couple for our staff to use!)
_____
NOOK!
_____
My husband is so frugal; he did research until he turned blue, and got the
Nook for me. I LOVE Amazon and use their website all the time, and feel a
bit like a traitor, but the Nook had more features and books, and now that
the evil deed is done, I cannot WAIT for it arrive!
_____
>I have been looking at these, and the Nook has a place for a micro sd
>card allowing you to have at least 17,000 books on it. You can also
>upload exclusive free content on it when you're in any Barnes and Noble.
>It has the share feature where you can share your ebooks with other or
>other devices. You can also upload the free ebooks from local public
>libraries.
>?
>I'm going this way. However, it has to be after Christmas since they're
>all sold out right now. You can preorder online or in stores.
_____
I got a Kindle for myself last year, but my techno son researched all of
them and requested a Nook for himself this year! The Nook can handle
several
different formats, according to him, plus you can share your books with
others.
_____
None of the above. I would get an iPod Touch. My hubby got me one last
year and I wouldn't be without it. It does Kindle books and other ebooks
plus so much more! It's not just a fancy game player. I have my stocks,
contact list, pictures, music, Google Earth, calendar, Keeper, My Dropbox
(check out my 4 favorite Web tools here
http://mhsav.wikispaces.com/*Web+2.0+Tool+Favorites) TV & movie listings,
dictionary... the list is endless. Most of my apps
were free or at a special reduced rate. The screen size is fine (I'm 58)
and you can back light it to read in the dark. Plus it's small compact
size makes it easy to stick in a pocket or purse unlike the large and
heavy Kindle. You might think well all I want to do is read books but once
you've used the Touch you will never trade it for a Kindle, Sony or Nook.
Just my opinion but I'm so glad my husband surprised me with the touch. If
Kindles had been cheaper I would have bought one long ago and I think I
would have been very disappointed once I saw what the Touch can do. Mine
is the 16GB.
_____
Not to confuse the issue, but you might also consider the virtues of an
iPod Touch.? While I don't own one, I am told that it can serve as an
e-book reader plus it has many other uses besides.
