[LM_NET] HIT: Target: Lois Duncan and 5th grade

Here are the responses to my inquiry about Lois Duncan for 5th grade. I
will purchase a couple of the titles that were suggested, but didn't go
all out. I think the girls are looking for something exciting, in the
sense of scary and suspenseful. I thought of books like The Face on the
Milk Carton, but those too are for older grades. Any other author or title
suggestions would be great.

books. I haven't read any, but get the feeling they are for older
students. Are they appropriate for fifth grade? Are there specific titles
that might be more approapriate?

Try "Down A Dark Hall." It is set in a boarding school that is inhabited
by spirits, and "A Gift of Magic," which is about a girl with ESP.

I would not recommend many of the Lois Duncan books to fifth grade.  Very
dark...

Gift of Magic is fine for 5th grade.  I used to read it aloud to my 6th
graders.
