Hi, y'all --

For an upcoming issue of School Library Monthly, we're looking for
your ideas for how to take this old-school pet report and move it
closer to inquiry. Please submit online at
http://blog.schoollibrarymedia.com/index.php/tweak-this-pet-report/ .

Thanks!
Kristin

THE SCENARIO

A teacher comes to you. She is a veteran of the district, and many
parents request that their children be in her class each year. As a
result, she has a great deal of influence in the community. The
teacher has never worked with the school library before, but this is
your first year in the district. Your mentor suggests that working
with this teacher could be a smart political move.

The teacher brings the worksheet that she has given out for homework
in the past. (This used to be a take-home project.)

It says:

Consider a pet you would like to own. Fill in the graphic organizer,
then put that information on a poster for National Pet Week!

The graphic organizer lists:
Diet
Things to buy
Foods to avoid
Exercise
Life span

You really want to build a relationship with this teacher. How can
you move this project closer to inquiry and the AASL Standards for the
21st-Century Learner?

Please submit your ideas using this online form:
http://blog.schoollibrarymedia.com/index.php/tweak-this-pet-report/

Thanks!
