I am reading Jonathan Strange and Mr.Norrel by Susanna Clark. It's a  story
of magic set  in 1800's England. I think because it's written by a woman
it's less swashbuckling than other fantasy stories, but the interplay of the
characters and the inclusion of the culture and history of the time period
makes it very exciting.
