I would very calmly run off copies of both my teaching credential as well as my
library media teachers credential and give them to the kid to take home. Nothing
like the "gift" of a little education for the parent for the holidays!

Peace to everyone,

The sad part about all of this is that when I went to get my masters in library
media; the curriculm required me to take more credit hours than that of a teacher
pursuing thier master in Education.Teachers fail to reaalize that we know more
about the school's curriculm better than they do. I know from experience. I sell
myself through the students: when I conduct my lessons, I always hear from the
teachers we are just about to start that lesson. I always say I know that is why I
introduced it to the children to give them some introduction to the topic.

Just think what will happen to students if they did not have libarians/libraries.
Wow, no specials time, no book fairs, no leisure reading, no computers, etc. What
would the school culture/climate be with out us the 'NOT REAL TEACHERS'??????

I have my principal's license as well. I overheard teacher say what does a gym,
music, art & librarian teacher know about leading a building. They just do not
know that we 'Specialist teacher' have more experience with leadership then a
typical classroom teacher. I just can't stand it. Within my school district,
Cincinnati Public Schools, the librarians are taking control. We are gaining more
respect from the district as a whole. We currently hold our own Professional
Development days district wide :)

We will get the respect we need.

We have also passed our public library levy to keep our public libraries open !!
