[LM_NET] OT: A gift

Christmas Day is dawning on the east coast of Australia and millions of people are 
getting the best
gift of all - rain!  Not enough to end the 10-year drought but enough to give hope 
that at least the
sky hasn't forgotten how! And while some may grumble because their Christmas Day 
barbecue lunch may
not be as hot and dry as they anticipated, most are generous enough to concede that 
for all that
might be wrapped in pretty paper under the tree, rain is the best gift of all.

Yet on Wednesday, 16 families were made homeless as devastating fires ravaged Port 
Lincoln in South
Australia; residents in our north-west were protecting themselves from Cyclone 
Laurence and the rest
of us were doing the last -minute shopping in 38+C degree heat (that's 100+F).  
That night we
watched in amazement at pictures of parts of the UK, Europe and the US battling 
under heavy
snowfalls!

So whatever the weather Christmas Day brings to you, and whether you view it as a 
gift or a curse,
celebrate and enjoy this special time and have a safe and peaceful New Year.
