I have an Exploration Station where I might have a center on tornadoes with
books and a model tornado they can play with if a grade level is studying
weather or I might have globes/maps with simple activities if I am teaching
about mapping skills. Another is the listening center with books on tape,
another is the computer center where I designate certain sites they can
visit for the month (Tumblebooks, Iknowthat.com, Highlights, etc), and
magazine/reading center is the other one. Works well for me! I do have a
girls and boys alternating week system for the computer station so that they
rotate themselves among the different centers.
