We received a grant for a lab of Apple MacBooks (and individual MacBooks for the 3 teachers involved) this fall, and have had our training sessions with Eric Erb. (He's good, BTW) We'll be using them initially to teach students how to make podcasts. We've got three classes who will be our "guinea pigs". The Web Design class will be first so that they can assist with teaching other groups. Then a group of ninth graders in an advanced level English class will do book trailer podcasts, followed by our Film Studies students doing movie reviews. I'm really looking forward to teaching these units alongside the other two teachers involved, and am sketching out plans for lots of collaborative work among small groups of students and hands-on instruction with the computers. And I'm a major convert to Macs now, although there are some things I still do on my PC since I've got different software on it. Anyway, did any of the rest of you get in on this grant? What are your plans for it?
