As a Teen librarian in a public library, I see plenty of students copying and
pasting from Wikipedia into their papers, which they then print off to be handed
in--assignment done!!! No work, no thought, no research required. They don't even
read the article. They don't seem to be facing any consequences for cheating (at
least in school--I'm sure that the students' lack of integrity and laziness will
make their lives difficult eventually).

Maybe some teachers are just so happy to have something handed in that they don't
even check/care?

There is a certain Charter school in the area whose students have no textbooks--or,
rather, they have textbooks but they have to stay in the class. They are constantly
given copies of chapters so they can answer the questions at the end for homework.
I can only assume that the school owns only one class set. So, they come in with
Wikipedia articles the teachers printed out for them. I always cringe.
