I'm teaching a collection development class for school librarians this
semester, and we're getting ready to talk about weeding. Through
conversation with some of my students, I know that I have a few who are
struggling with the concept of weeding - they are the sort who like to
hang on to things just-in-case.

Since I'm not at all like this (I'm of the "fling it!" sort, myself J),
I'm uncertain as to how to effectively address their legitimate
concerns. I know all the reasons & rationale for weeding and will
certainly share those, but I'm wondering if some of you out there who
are savers can give me insight into what has helped you balance your
instinct to save with the need to weed.

Also, I'm looking for pictures of libraries that NEED to be weeded -
examples of what happens when you don't weed. I have photos of my
library when I took over - before I weeded - but I'd love to have a
couple other examples. If you have photos of a library that's in
desperate need of weeding and are willing to share, please pass them
along!

Please email me off-list: albeam2@ilstu.edu

Thanks in advance for the help!
