Hi, All: Thanks to those who sent suggestions. I know that there are people out there who are "against" bibliotherapy, and I can appreciate that stance. However, a colleague asked for help and I do want to answer her question -- her legitimate reference question -- not judge her. I do not know the student, nor do I work in the school. I do know the school & the school psychologist, however, and am sure that the child is already receiving lots of appropriate help. The teacher is just looking for some good books that might also be of interest to the child. Below are the titles that were suggested. Do Not Pass Go by Kirpatrick Hill. Teaching with Books that Heal: Authentic Literature and Literacy Strategies to Help Children Cope with Everyday Problems Helping Teens Cope: Resources for School Library Media Specialists and other Youth Workers Schooled by Gordon Korman Tracking Daddy Down by Marybeth Kelsey.
