The teacher-librarians in my district were meeting yesterday in the office of one of our colleagues, who teachers in an elementary school. Of the seven of us in the meeting, three were men. At one point during our meeting, our hostess took a break to go out and say hello to a class of second graders who were in her LMC for book checkout. She told them that all of the school librarians in the district were having a meeting in her office. One of the second graders looked toward her office, and then exclaimed, "But there are men in there!" I guess we still have stereotypes to break.
