Good Afternoon! We are having more and more Latinos moving into our area. They are considered ESL by our district. Two that have moved in are 18 and were enrolled as freshmen. They have a very limited understanding of our English. They seem to be nice kids who want to learn and are trying. One has been absent too much and because of our policy, he now has a Friday School (3:00 - 6:00). Students with Friday School are supposed to do homework and then read. These students usually have help understanding the homework as it's in English. Some teachers thought they could just do Math there, but if they don't understand what the questions are asking, how exactly are they to do that? I digress. I feel I should get some books written in Spanish in our library. My question is: what do I get? Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
