Dear LM Netters,
I have been asked to do a short workshop on the reason we should be teaching our
students (Grades 3-5 school) to cite sources. I have so much information but was
wondering if anyone had a Promethean Flipchart that would be appropriate for this
inservice topic. I was thinking of using our Activotes within the presentation to
open up the discussion. I would also welcome a powerpoint. Also, does anyone have
a simple handout or brochure about copyright guidelines for educators. I really
appreciate you're generosity!!!

Now I have a copyright question that I believe will surface during the workshop.
We moved into a new building last year that doesn't have any VCRs, only DVD
players. Many teachers brought VHS tapes but now have no way to play them. The
movement is to transfer them all to DVD. Isn't it illegal to copy them if they can
purchase a DVD version of the exact VHS?
If indeed we do have to purchase DVDs, I know this will raise hackles since there
isn't the money for replacement copies.
It's been awhile since I reviewed the law and would love to have someone refresh my
memory on this issue.

As always, thank you for taking the time to respond.
