A creative teacher in my school wants to present a student drama related to the rich, vibrant history of voting rights. This might cover the Women's Suffrage Movement, the voting rights struggles (and victories) in the Civil Rights Movement.or more recent efforts to register voters to influence national elections. Perhaps someone in this community can think of a drama they have seen, or a short story they have read that might be adapted to upper-elementary/middle school students. Stretch your imaginations here folks. This is a teacher (and former theater professional) who last year pulled off an adaptation of three plays from August Wilson's Century Cycle, with 4th graders! If you know of a story, or have seen a play that might be adapted, let us know! I'll be happy to share the suggestions as a HIT and to follow up this Spring with a report on what finally hit the stage!
