[LM_NET] Target: Sports Legends

I am hoping that some one can help me here.  I am collaborating with  an 
English teacher on a myth, fairytale, fable and legend unit.  I would  like to 
find a sports legend to use with the class but I am hitting a  wall.  Can anyone 
recommend a legend that would be of interest.
