I have received information about a new online professional learning course that I thought I should share because it looks really exciting and just what many of us are asking for. "21st Century Learning - Transforming School Libraries with Web 2.0 " will be available from February 20 - March 1 (British Columbia time) from http://www.yourschoollibrary.org/index.html It will focus on the Web 2.0 tools being used by our students and discuss how these can become part of OUR toolbox. As well as papers by leading international teacher librarians, there will be discussion forums and chat and optional face-to-face meetings. Presentations will be in a variety of formats and are likely to include: blog, wiki, video, podcast, PowerPoint slides and pdf. The presentations will be of a length that can be read/viewed in about 30 minutes. Presentations will also include 2-3 guiding questions that will engage the audience. Each presentation will have a related discussion forum which will be moderated and will include input from the presenter. It is these forums that provide the possibility for a rich learning experience. Facilitators are James Henri, president of IASL and Sandra Lee from University Canada West and the University of British Columbia.
