Frederick,

I know of a few open source cataloging systems. Of course, the easiest
would be LibraryThing <http://www.librarything.com/>, but I believe it only
catalogs books and requires Internet access--see how the Puerto Rican
Cultural
Cente<http://www.librarything.com/venue/42574/Puerto-Rican-Cultural-Center---Andr%C3%A9s-Figueroa-Cordero-Library-and-Community-Information-Center>r
with the assistance of UI's Graduate School of Library and Information
Science used LibraryThing to catalog a special collection of books.

A few other that I have heard of are listed below. I believe that each of
them can run on a stand alone system but also have a web interface.

BiblioteQ <http://biblioteq.sourceforge.net/>

Biblios <http://biblios.org/>

Koha <http://koha.org/>

Good luck!
