Diane & All,
I love the BBYA list and look forward to it each year and always look well
beyond the top ten list to inform purchases for my high school library.

I have heard, via blogs, about the enormous work load for committee
members with an overwhelming amount of books being placed on the list.

I would like to suggest that perhaps there's a way to limit the number of
submissions by the big powerhouse publishers and have them send their most
promising works. Clearly, they send everything!

There are plenty of readers advisory lists and so many of those tend to be
NY Times bestsellers. I, as one librarian, feel that we definitely need
this list chosen by well-read professionals!

The only other list that comes remotely close to this one is the
Outstanding Books for the College Bound, but it's only updated every five
years. (sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English).

Please, share my sentiments. I, like others have said, would be willing to
volunteer!

Sincerely,

Diane Mankowski
