Susan, You have described the situation very well. As a long time AASL member and former officer, I am amazed and ashamed of the organization's stance on the standards. I'm not sure I can begin to defend such a stance in the current educational world!!!! Of course, one would site the source of the standards in a presentation, curriculum document, or presentation. But ask for permission???
