We only refund students for billed and then returned items if the item
has not been replaced yet. If the item has been replaced, the library
has already gone through the expense and time of replacing it. We will
offer the newly returned book to the student, as he has paid for it, or
they can think of it as a donation to the library. We do not refund
payments to students who have graduated.

Subject: Refunding book payments

Is there a point where you don't refund students who have paid for a
book
that was not returned to the library, only to have it appear a year
later?
This is my first year and I am at a library that has no policies and did
not
keep records about students paying for lost books. The student brought
back
a book and doesn't know how much her mom paid for it. There are two
copies
of the book on the shelves. Do I give the book back to the student or
give
her a refund?
