I have made very valuable connections with "neighbors" through attending these events. It's nice to have a colleague close-by that you can call for assistance. Though we certainly associate with our building colleagues, there's something important about meeting with other local LMS's. National events don't give us the same ties. Harry Harry F. I felt I became a much stronger teacher librarian and professional advocate because of my involvement at the local and state levels and these experiences were an invaluable help to me when I attained National Board Certification. As someone who now works in the private sector for a vendor, I believe companies such as ours have much to offer the library community and they to us at these events.
