I hope you can help me with this request.  A friend of mine who is a retired
librarian received this e-mail from a friend.  She forwarded it to me hoping I
could help.

I'm trying to find the title and author of a book I read around 1950-1952.  Set
in England not long after WWII.  The story involves a gift sent to one of the
children, a lovely long dress.  There is no suitable occasion to wear it, so the
children create a village festival with a parade, in which the girl is to
impersonate Brittania.  By the time the elaborate event is scheduled, she has
outgrown the dress.  It was a wonderful book and I have no idea how to find it.

I haven't had any luck coming up with the title.  Any help you can give is much
appreciated!

Next Tuesday my family is traveling to San Diego CA to visit my husband's o==0
Ddest daughter, her husband, and their two year old son.
wo years ago we visited them in Mountain View CA and I asked for ideas fro=
my LM_NET friends. . We had a wonderful time exploring my list from LM_NE=
!! The library in San Jose is GORGEOUS and SO interesting and we saw a co=
lection of Beethoven's pianos and manuscripts.
My husband is a music teacher and performer. We have an 11 year old daughte=
. We love books and bookstores, music, animals, and beautiful scenery.
So I am asking again for your ideas. What should be make sure to see in San=
Diego???
he family has a zoo pass and that is definately on our list.
e want to see the ocean - in New Jersey we would make recommendations like=
"Go to the 34th street beach in Ocean City" Does San Diego work like thi=
?
ny really cool family restaurants? We have Max the two year old with us, =
o nothing that is fancy expensive or takes a long time!!!
.... We LOVE In and Out Burger!
Cant' wait to see your ideas. Jasmine has just earned her doctorate in Psyc=

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Is anyone familiar with these series. There is discrepancy in various
eb sites about the order and names of the series
There appears to be three sub series
    Web of Magic
    Quest for Magic
    Guardians of Magic
Here comes the problem - in some places the books appear to be
umbered straight through all these series and others number within
hem.. .For example - Song of the Unicorn which appears to be the
irst in "Quest for Magic" is sometimes numbered as book 7.
Here are my questions - Are the 6 books in each subseries?
Do the numbers on the books run straight through the who
erie
s..making it 18 books?

his is driving me crazy. I don't want to order duplicate books!

Hello All,
I am modifying my request for research results that indicate that doing
esearch in the middle school can help with reading comprehension and
est scores, since that information doesn't seem to be forthcoming.
Instead, at the suggestion of a netter, I am requesting *anecdotal
nformation from those of you who really believe that doing research in
he library contributes to success in these areas.
*Here is part of my original request so that you know where I am coming
rom:
The high school librarian and I have been given an opportunity to teach the
esearch process we have adopted
as a district (IIM). We are hoping our
raining will inspire more of our classroom teacher colleagues to work with
s on research projects, but we know one of their major reservations is lack
f time. We feel that if we can show them that research helps to develop
eading comprehension skills in students, and will lead to better
tandardized test scores, that they will be more likely to take the time to
reate and implement research projects.

hank you.
