At the 2009 ALA Annual Conference (June 26 - July 2), all librarians are
invited to attend the program

"The Best of the Best from the University Presses: Books You Should Know
About"

DATE: Sunday, July 12th, 1:30 pm

LOCATION: McCormick Center West, Room 194B

Learn about great books for your library, and get a chance to win some, too!

University presses represent an often-undiscovered gold mine of resources
for libraries. At this program, AASL and PLA-division librarians will
introduce recent titles they have found to be "The Best" for a variety of
reasons. Come discover 21 book titles from a variety of subjects and
presses, and learn why they should be acquired for library collections.

Books in the program will cover such diverse subjects as Ancient Egypt, the
American Musical, children's literature, photojournalism, the Qur'an, family
vacations, and Abraham Lincoln.

Information on these and 400+ other university press titles can be found in
AAUP's 2009 University Press Books for Public and Secondary School Libraries
bibliography, 19th edition. Copies will be available at the program. For
more information, and to view its contents online, go to
