WOW- just have to share this... I am leaving my middle school position for a
position at the high school in my district. I am leaving on good terms and put
together a WEALTH of information for the replacement. The person who was offered
the position said she wanted the job, arranged several days of training with me. I
put together professional books, curriculum map, lesson calendars and alignment of
my lessons to our state standards, history of the media center and spent several
hours sharing whatever I could to make her transition sucessful. She is a "career
switcher" who has never taught or worked in a school before so I really spent a
great deal of time preparing things for her.

She was supposed to come by my library yesterday and then again at 9 am today for
more training. When she didn't show today- after not coming yesterday either with
no word, I went and asked my principal if he's heard from her. No he hadn't- but
she had called the HR folks to say she'd taken another job. She apparently had
left her session with me, went to a neighboring school district, interviewed and
accepted a job- all on Monday afternoon!!! I can't help but think that she did
much better in that interview thanks to all the prepping and materials I'd given
her.

Am I overreacting? I am feeling so used, not to mention furious. BTW- no move on
her part to return my materials.
