Long story short: The year The Doll People by Martin was published, my
mother gave me the dollhouse my brother had built for her from scratch years
ago before my two grown children and his two grown children were born.
There were no dolls with the house - my children and the other two
grandchildren had long ago destroyed/lost them playing at grandma's house
:-) I had no room at home, so I got the bright idea to take the
dollhouse to school for display - and i purchased dolls that looked
strangely identical to the Doll family in the story - the first year I
bought the mother, father, Annabelle (even colored her porcelain hair
green!!!), the brother (complete with sailor suit) and the "maid/nanny".
The store didn't have a doll suitable for the uncle - but then the owner
said she had a male doll that was MISSING A LEG!!!! How freaky was that!
So I got him, missing leg and all - oh, and a piano for their
sing-alongs. Later that year i bought Aunt Sara - after students had a
chance to read the book - and even made her a hat to match the one in the
book and a little miniature spider book. The next year, i bought a
Barbie little sister doll in a purple tutu - made her a crown and a star
wand and i had Mean Mimi from The Meanest Doll in the World.

even the boys LOVE this dollhouse - it is sealed with plexiglass panels -
but i periodically open it and move the dolls around - add christmas
decorations, etc.

SO - i have never been able to find any dollhouse size dolls that resemble
the FunCraft family. anybody out there know of any?

P.S. one of my summer projects this year is a log-cabin dollhouse kit my
husband bought me several years ago. i've already purchased 3 bears and a
golden-haired little girl doll for it - and most of the furniture. just
have to get started building - or else i won't be finished before i retire
in a few years :-)
