I'm not sure if this went through, so I'm sending it again. Here are two: The Many Rides of Paul Revere by James Cross Giblin (Scholastic Press, 2007) Mary Walker, Civil War Surgeon and Feminist by Stephanie Fitzgerald (Compass Point Books, 2009) It's older, but our middle schoolers enjoy At Her Majesty's Request: an African Princess in Victorian England by Walter Dean Myers (Scholastic, 1999). "A book is like a little room you can carry around with you, and anytime you need to, you can slip in there and get away from it all."--Diane Stanley, The Mysterious Matter of I.M.
